Description:

CHARLES MANSON (1934 - 2017) Drifter whose "family" committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. Extraordinary pair of items written by Manson and sent to his biographer in which he offers personal information on his upbringing and his philosophy, much hitherto unknown. Manson's cover letter is an A.L.S. with his pseudonym "Riff Raff" with characteristic swastika, 2pp. legal folio, [Tamal, Sep. 16, 1985] to his co-writer, Nuel Emmons. In small part: "...I'm woman wise. My moma was a con went to prison at 17 & been around fish & shrimp & 44s all my life...But R[ed - Lynette Fromme] & B[lue - Sandra Good] has had to carry a lot of BS pushed off on them but they picked up for their love of the family...Cloud[?]...got stuck holding all the shit no one else could carry...she needs some help...I'm not in a spot to even help myself...I know them kids been through hell for things others are unaware of & for the world they know...I'm a mean cold hearted snake who learnt to live for myself but those kids well they growed up now...[I] ask you to do for them as you would for me...I feel you can do good & that you can do us good also..." Manson sent this letter with a 22pp. legal folio autograph manuscript "Notes for book" which includes a great deal more of his memories and personal thoughts. In small part: "...I started in the heart as life became itself, in the person of a mother that I came from - not just any mother but a special body, young & dumb, on the run, from her mother...mom went to prison and left me with Grandmom...if there were ever a real Christian Grandmom was it...no drink no smoke no cursing...mom on the other hand drank & gave life her all as she suffered & knew little or none of the good...victim to...The Christian Family units breaking down...[mother] going to prison & leaving him [Manson] by himself to make it alone...I did bounce from uncle aunt or foster home but never long enough to call it home. I just became my home to myself...in whatever prison or place I set...The prison world raised me into the temple of thought I carry with me...left me OPEN to learn from ALL. The last wino to the top con...I lost much [human feeling] before I knew it was human like to feel pain joy sorrow as feelings...I make up the act - as a play only understands reality played from a stage set in fear & death - or peace and love...with out God and Grace all the gods of earth say much the same things...I got a distasteful guy in me called Brona. Count von Brona is mean & don't like no one...as mean as 2000 years of prison can make him. But even he knows that the Grace of Good is the only way life can survive...Count von Brona the bad self & Riff Raff Rackes[?] the Good self & the 1000 faces Manson plays...God is the same he gives & gives to no end but what he gives in the Mass will git lost in money...Too much comfort & lazy life, with everything at finger tip gives nothing to reach for...most all people Ive ever met are good when they are let be...Some people feel good to do bad because they're stuck in programming...just some thought..." Much more surprisingly rich content. With transmittal envelope with Manson's return address, partially in his hand, and Emmons' note: "Charlie's notes on book". From the estate of Manson's biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote "Manson in His Own Words".
