Description:

(1934 - 2017) Drifter whose 'family' committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. 'Your Children' by Charles Manson (New York: Vanishing Rotating Triangle), 1973, 24pp. 8vo, Manson’s personal copy of the printed transcript of his final statement at his murder trial. Manson annotates and marks some pages with pencil. Key excerpts, in part: '…And you can say it back at me, and you can say that its me that cannot communicate, and you can say that its me that don’t have any understanding, and you can say that when I am dead your world will be better, and you can lock me up in your penitentiary and you can forget about me. But I'm only what lives inside of you and every one of you.... It is not my conspiracy. It is not my music. I hear what it relates. It says, Rise! It says, Kill! Why blame it on me? I didn’t write the music....I don't recall saying to anyone, 'Go get a knife and kill anyone or anything' In fact it makes me mad when someone kills snakes or cats or dogs or horses. I don’t even like to eat meat because that’s how much I am against killing......You can go on forever. You can just talk endless words. It don’t mean anything. I don’t know that it means anything. I can talk to the witnesses and ask them what they think about things, and I can bring the truth out of other people because I know what truth is. But I cannot sit here and tell you everything that I think is important in relation to anything because like basically all I want to do is explain what you are doing to your children...' Light edge wear on the cover pages, else fine condition. Manson gave this publication to his biographer, NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended him. He co-wrote 'Manson in His Own Words'.
