Description:

CHARLES MANSON ACCUSES HIS GUARDS OF THEFT
(1934 - 2017) Drifter whose "family" committed the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders in 1969. Interesting content A.L.S., 6pp. 4to., Corcoran State Prison, Aug. 10, 1998, in which Manson describes the confiscation of paintings, cassette tapes, guitars, and other personal belongings by CSP staff as theft. In part: "...My contention is that staff here at CSP Corcoran are intentionally stealing my personal works of art and of music for the purpose of collecting my art or for selling... As to the oil paintings, during the time hobby craft was active, I was allowed to create my artworks. Once I became good at this art, staff stole the pictures... Again, it is clear to me that these staff members simply steal my property because they wanted it for themselves. I want to make clear that this is not a property issue per se. This is a complaint of theft for monetary gain by prison officials... The property stolen by CSP Corcoran staff fall into the category of a family heirloom. I have no family except for myself. That means that all I own and/or create (legally) is a one of a kind object..." In the margin of page six, Manson has marked this as: "Charlie's copy". Manson is well-known as having an extensive working knowledge of the legal process, and has filed numerous complaints and motions from prison since his arrest. Signed in black ink, with his name also printed beneath. Staple holes at top left, else fine.
