CHARLES F. H. JOHNSON
(1880 - 1981) U.S. Air Service Major and the Chairman of Liberty Loans in Passaic, NJ during World War I, later served as the advisor to the director of Army Emergency Relief in World War II. I.S.P, 7.5 x 9.5 in. sepia, a chest-up portrait of Johnson in uniform, kindly presented to Secretary of the Treasury under Truman JOHN WESLEY SNIDER. The lower right corner is inscribed: 'To Johnson: Much water has gone over the Dam since we first watched the flow. We have seen men come and go and thru it all I have the joy of watching you grow in stature by loops and bounds. It's been great to be able to call you friend...' He then signs twice: once 'Chas', then 'Chas. FH Johnson', adding the date 'July 31st, 1951'. Mounted to a 10.5 x 14.5 in. piece of cardstock. The publisher's name 'Vandamm' has been added to the lower corner of the mount, with the studio's inkstamp applied to the verso. Near fine condition overall. - 100-150

Shipments will only be sent to the registered bidder address, re-routing shipments is not permitted. All shipments require a direct signature, no exceptions. Shipping to certain countries is extremely expensive and will be invoiced according to dimensional weight as required! By law the full value is required by customs for international shipments. Please inquire before bidding! International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
