(1812 - 1870) English novelist and the author of such classics as Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities, and David Copperfield. Bold address and signature on the portion of small postal cover, in full: "Charles Ken Esquire 'The Sun' Office Charles Dickens", with typed date Mar. 13, 1869. Charles Kent (1823-1902) was an English poet, biographer and editor of The Sun from 1845-1870. A close personal friend of Dickens, he contributed to Household Words and All the Year Round under Dickens' editorship. Sold with a nice carte-de-visite portrait by Gurney & Son, New York. Very good condition.
