CAMPAIGN OF 1777 Fine content A.L.S. of Charles Tillingham, 1p. legal folio, "Continental Village ", July 26, 1777 to quartermaster Nicholas Quackenbush at Albany reporting on the movement of Howe and Washington toward Philadelphia. He writes in part: "...all the news we have at present is that the British Army is gone towards Philadelphia, the fleet is sailed out of the [Sandy] Hook, to the amount of 200 Sail, this Account, was brought by Erasmus Williamson, from New York, which he left last Tuesday...Genl. Washington's Army are moving Southward, he has ordered Genl. Sterling's & Sullivan's divisions over the [Hudson] river again... " With integral address leaf.
