'CAMP ASHCAN' PHOTOGRAPH OF ACCUSED GERMAN WAR CRIMINALS
Fine original period 8 x 10 in. b/w photograph from 'Central Continental Prisoner of War Enclosure No. 32, code-named '[Camp] ASHCAN' the Allied prisoner-of-war camp in the Palace Hotel of Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg established immediately after the German surrender. Operating from May to August 1945, it served as a processing station and interrogation center for the 86 most prominent surviving Nazi leaders prior to their trials in Nuremberg. This photograph, taken under the supervision of SHAEF Captain Hess (the original owner of this image), includes Hermann Goring front and center, with his fellow prisoners standing beside and behind him, among them ARTHUR SEYSS-INQUART, WILHELM KEITEL, WILHELM FRICK, HANS FRANK, KARL DONITZ, WALTHER FUNK, JULIUS STREICHER, JOACHIM VON RIBBENTROP, FRANZ RITTER VON EPP, and very likely all of the other inmates at the camp. Fine condition.
