(1883 - 1945) Italian dictator whose fascist supporters marched on Rome, securing him power; allied with Hitler, after many military and political setbacks he was captured and executed at war's end by partisans. Nice content A.L.S. "Mussolini" 1p. 4to., Rome, Oct. 4, 1924, on official Chief of State letterhead in French to a Greek minister, Pericles Argyropoulu (according to ABPC), in part: "...I thank you very much for having sent your work on Demosthenes which I have just finished reading with the greatest historical and present-day interest. Better than [French Prime Minister Georges] Clemenceau, I believe you have put your finger on the profound characteristics of the Hellenic crisis in Demosthenes' time. But there is always 'morality' in this crisis which is true and will ever be...". Clemenceau wrote Demosthene, a study of the famed Greek statesman and orator, in 1926. Mussolini was a famed orator himself, and probably studied the master Demosthenes. Boldly penned and very good.
