BEATRIX POTTER
(1866 - 1943) English writer and illustrator of children's books, creator of the charming characters Peter Rabbit, Squirrel Nutkin and Mrs. Tiggy Winkle. Scarce signed book, her children's compilation of rhymes Appley Dappley's Nursery Rhymes (London: F. Warne & Co., [n.d. but Oct. 1917), 49pp. 12mo., hardbound. Bearing on the second page a warm personal inscription in bright purple ink to Potter's niece, Tess: " With Auntie's love to her Little Tess Dec. 1918". In lovingly worn condition, with frontispiece on cover torn and missing about half, spine intact but unhinged, spine chipped with losses, boards a bit curled, corners bumped and rubbed, and so forth. Inscription page bright and clean, and still a most desirable piece. Accompanied by an unsigned copy of Potter's beloved fable The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies, in similarly worn condition. Two pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
