CLARA BARTON(1821-1912) American nurse who tended the wounded in the Civil War and later founded the American Red Cross. Very early D.S. "Clara H. Barton", 1p. 2" x 3", ca. 1860's, a hand-colored New Year's card bearing a sentimental printed poem upon which she has written "Esteem " and signed at bottom. Ink a bid faded, else light wear and very good. Barton's signature is rare in this form and from this early date. $200-300
