[ Autographs ] Joseph Smith 1805-1844 American religious leader founder of the Mormon Church, envisioned The Book of Mormon jailed by non-Mormons he was taken from his cell in Carthage II and shot by the mob. Attractive $5.00 bank note issued by The Kirland Safety Society Bank Feb. 10, 1837 with vignettes of boys with shovels and another young man with his dog. Boldly signed by Smith as Cashier. A clean, carefully repaired tear crosses the note and signature otherwise in fine condition
