[ Autograph ] John F. Kennedy Autograph notes as Presidential candidate, unsigned, on the verso of an envelope addressed to him in Grand Rapids, Mi. In full: "Anderson time is our time ..1860 Republican democratic Party 1912 1932 1960' Slight soiling and wrinkling, otherwise very good. An interesting story lies behind thisitem: On Oct. 14, 1960 politician and President of American Motors George Romney sent a twelve page telegram to both Richard Nixon and Kennedy who was barnstorming in Michigan at the time. The telegram urged both not to disregard excessive union power, use of agricultureto cure world hunger, raise foreign standards of living, and curb theexpansion of the power of the federal government. The telegram is in this lot, along with a newspaper clipping describing the delivery of the telegram to Kennedy by the mayor of Grand Rapids, a telegram to Kennedy from a man who found Romney's telegram (which Kennedy had lost), and other related material. Interesting!
