A pair of items by notable writers, includes: ROBERT SOUTHEY (1744-1843), English Romantic writer, the Poet Laureate of 1813. Fine A.Q.S. in his tiny, calligraphic hand, in full: "in every good work trust thy own soul, for this is the keeping of commandments. Ecclesiastes xxxii.22 Robert Southey, Keswick 28th March 1837". Fine. Along with LEON URIS (1924-2003) American historical novelist known for his work Exodus. Fine content T.Ms.S. 1p. 8vo., [n.p., n.d.], a long excerpt from his most famous work Exodus, in small part: "...He could see his own grandchildren lying on the deck of the EXODUS. Bradshaw knew his Bible as well as any well-brought up Englishman and like most Englishmen had a tremendous sense of honor although he was not deeply religious...The Pharaoh of Egypt had had might on his side...Sweat ran down Bradshaw's face.
