CLAUDIO ARRAU (1903-1991) Internationally-acclaimed Chilean pianist, considered one of the greatest of the twentieth-century, and remembered for his wide repertoire of styles. A fantastic Arrau grouping, over 170 volumes of music and music-related books from his personal library, including 33 signed by Arrau and dated on the first free endpaper. The volumes comprise many biographical works, music theory and practice, and are in English, Italian, German, French, and Spanish. Additionally, there are several pieces of sheet music, and over twenty editions of German music magazines. Many of the volumes are in German, and create a very comprehensive biographical library, with works about every composer from Bach to Mozart to Schubert to Wagner to Berg. The signed volumes include: Historia Estetica de La Musica, Storia della Musica, Vivaldi, Stravinsky, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Puccini, Henry Purcell, Johann Strauss, Robert Schumann, Johann Sebastian Bach, Grundlagen des Linearen Kontrapunkts, Josef Haydn, Georges Bizet, Michail Glinka (2), Gli arnesi della musica, Riemann Musik Lexikon vol.
