ROBERT ANDERSON (1805 - 1871) Union brigadier general, the "Hero of Fort Sumter", who refused Confederate demands to surrender the fort and ultimately endured two days of bombardment before capitulating. Scarce, probable war-date S.P., a carte de visite photograph showing Anderson seated and in uniform with his cap beside him, boldly signed in full at bottom.
