ALBERT SCHWEITZER
(1875 - 1965) French physician and theologian, a specialist in tropical medicine. A.L.S. penned at the conclusion of a letter from his long-time nurse and secretary, Ali Silver, 1p. oblong 4to., Lambaréné, May 23, 1965. Silver sends thanks in English to Allan Hauck for his letter and apologizes for her late reply, with Schweitzer adding, in German: "...I thank you for the nice lines you have written about me. In the paper, in which you wrote about me, I found the picture of the Cathedral in Uppsala, where I have been so often. Here in Lambaréné everything is going well. In my hospital, we are 6 doctors and 15 European nurses. In the hospital are 520 beds for patients...". Penned just four months before his death. With original envelope, fine.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
