Description:

ALBERT SCHLAGETER PRESENTATION PLAQUE
Silver plated bust of Freikorps "martyr" Albert Schlageter mounted on a oval stained oak base, 9 1/4" x 7", depicts Schlageter in uniform. The reverse bears an ink presentation to the Sturmhauptfuhrer of S.A. Brigade 42, Sturmbann 2. Albert Leo Schlageter (1894-1923) was a member of the Freikorps. His activities sabotaging French occupying troops after World War I led to his arrest and eventual execution. His death created an image of martyrdom around him, which was cultivated by German nationalist groups, in particular the Nazi Party.
