ALBERT KESSELRING
Signed book, Umkamptes Romisches Land by Wilhelm Wessel, a German propaganda artist and writer [Berlin: Propagandakompanie, 1944], a hardbound edition of the work, bound in copper-colored cloth and containing 32 Wessel color illustrations, including two of Monte Cassino dated 1944. Monte Cassino was the site of a vicious battle between Kesselring's Tenth Army troops and Allied divisions seeking to break through Kesselring's lines. On the first free endpaper, Kesselring pens an A.N.S. [in German], "Feldmarschall Kesselring" and dates his inscription December, 1944. In very good condition, with minor cover separation on bottom edge .
