Important typed D.S. "Adolf Hitler", 1p. legal 4to., "Fuhrer Headquarters" [Berlin], Aug. 8, 1943, the promotion of Quartermaster General EDUARD WAGNER to the rank of General of Artillery, and the promotion of HEINRICH EBERBACH to the rank of Panzertruppe. Fine condition. Wagner was a conspirator in the botched "Wolf's Lair" July 20th bomb attempt on Hitler's life. Among his other contributions, on July 20, 1944 Wagner provided the airplane for Stauffenberg's return flight from East Prussia to Berlin. The Gestapo rapidly discovered Wagner's major role in the coup attempt. To escape arrest, Eduard Wagner committed suicide at noon on July 23, 1944. Eberbach figured prominently in the defense of Normandt following the D-Day invasion.
