WOLFGANG LUTH (1913-1945) German U-boat ace with 46 "kills", accidentally shot and killed by a German sentry. Lüth was given the last state funeral of the Third Reich, the only U-boat commander to be so honored. A scarce volume from his personal collection, Apis und Esteby Bruno Brehm (Munich, 1931), 556pp. hardbound, bearing an ink inscription on first free endpaper signed "A. Schafer" [?]. Front board and spine loose and partially detached, pages just lightly toned, some rubbing and soiling to boards, very good.
