Striking French propaganda poster, 47 1/2" x 31 3/4", advertising the "Journee des Regions Liberees" ("Day of Liberated Regions") closely following the German surrender which marked the end of World War I. The poster is illustrated with a monochrome image depicting a destitute French family huddling in the ruins of a destroyed town, with the title at top and the exhortation "Songez aux Foyers Detruits" ("Remember Destoyed Homes"). The printed artist's signature of Charles Fouquerry appears at the bottom right corner of the illustration, adding the date "1919", and a Paris printing firm is identified at the bottom edge. Backed with archival linen, shows original mailing folds with some toning to the folds and edges. else very good.
