JOHN A. "JOHNNY" KENT (1914 – 1985) Canadian fighter ace flying in the R.A.F., nicknamed "Kentski" by his Polish comrades in 303 Squadron. Considered one of the best young squadron leaders of the war, he also accumulated 13 kills. Good content T.L.S. "Johnny", 1p. 8vo., Hampshire, Aug. 30, 1959 to "My Dear Bob", historian Robert Wright, biographer of Hugh Dowding. Kent thanks Wright for sending color photos, and mentions that he will shortly take a flight in a vintage World War I fighter, an S.E.-5: "I hope the aircraft will remain in one piece!" He continues: "I had intended coming down to [RAF air base] Tangmere for the Battle of Britain Saturday but I have been roped in to fly either a Bristol Fighter or an Avro Tutor at three different airfields that day..." Fine condition.
