(1796-1864) Union brigadier general and brother of U.S. President Zachary Taylor, Commissary General of the U.S. Army. Pair of cut signatures, the first in black ink on a 3" x 2 1/4" slip of paper, adding his rank "A[cting] C[ommissary] G[eneral] Sub[sistence]", and with three words, the name of the office and the date "Oct. 10, 1860" in another hand above. the second is executed in black ink on a 2 3/4" x 1" slip, above the printed title "Commissary General of Subsistence". Both show slight toning but are otherwise in very good condition. Two pieces
