Fine group of eleven carte-de-visite photographs, each approx. 2 1/4" x 4" b/w, each depicting a Union soldier of an Ohio infantry regiment, all of whom have been attached to the Invalid Corps (later the Veterans Reserve Corps). Three of the images bear black ink dedications to a D.M. Steward on the verso; two of these are also signed by their subjects, while a further five images are signed, lacking any dedication. The remaining three images are unsigned and uninscribed, with one thought to be an image of Steward himself. Nine of the images bear the backstamps of photographers in Dayton, Cincinnati or Mount Vernon, Ohio, while eight also bear U.S. Internal Revenue stamps. The combination of these stamps dates the majority of the images to 1864-1866. The CDV's have been removed from card frames within a black faux-leather album (present here), bearing the ownership inscription "D Minor Steward Dayton Ohio P.O. Box 827" in black ink inside the front cover. Extensive research on all of the named men in these images is resent with the lot. The CDV's show minor to moderate toning and soiling overall, while the album is missing its spine covering, with the covers detached, else very good. Should be seen.
