HEINRICH HIMMLER (1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the SS and Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremburg. Partly-printed D.S., 4pp. 4to., Berlin, Oct. 31, 1939, recommending that "Schutzpolizei" Major Ernst Seiler be promoted to the rank of "Oberstleutnant" ("Lieutenant Colonel"). Himmler signs boldly on the first page in black ink. The first page also bears two approval stamps from Adolf Hitler's chancellery office, while the remaining pages list Seiler's biographical information, including date and place of birth, current rank and duties as commander of the Schutzpolizei in the Sudetenland city of Brux, family composition, education, previous work experience as a civic police officer, previous positions held within the NSDAP, and active military status as an officer. Shows holes at the left margin, else very good.
