(1866 – 1936) German military officer and Chief of Staff to August von Mackensen, a central figure in planning the victories Mackensen achieved in the east during the First World War. He later served as Commander in Chief of the Reichswehr and laid the foundation for the doctrine, tactics, organization, and training of the Wehrmacht. A.L.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, Oct. 3, 1929, to infantry general Joachim Fritz Constantin von Stulpnagel, sending his best wishes for his appointment as commander of the 3. Infantry Division of the Reichswehr. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows a horizontal fold at center and file holes to the left edge, else very good.
