(1851 - 1929) French Marshall of World War I who twice checked the German advance on Calais and was active at the Marne and the Somme. Fine I.S.P. "F. Foch", 9" x 12" (sight) b/w, an oval chest-up portrait of Marshall in uniform. Foch signs on the mount beneath the image in black ink, adding a dedication to U.S. Army brigadier general William W. Harts, who served as military attache to Paris form 1926 to 1930. The photographer's pencil signature intersects the inscription, the mount is evenly toned overall, else very good.
