Good pair of Victorian-era British Army epaulets, each 6.25 x 1.5 in., constructed of braided and interwoven gold bullion cords backed with red wool with a buckram core and each fitted with two “pips” of embroidered gold and silver bullion, indicating the rank of lieutenant. One epaulet is fitted with a screw-back brass button bearing a crown and the unit designation “Q.L. 16”, for the 16th The Queen’s Lancer’s. The second epaulet bears a plain-sewn-on gilt finish button. Both show threads indicating removal from a uniform, and the cords show slight patination, else very good.
