Rare imprint, a yellow bound booklet, 5 1/2" x 8", 12 pp. 8vo., titled, "Decreto Sobre Establecimiento de dos Escuelas, Una de Agricultura y Otra de Artes", 1843, a decree calling for the establishment of schools of agriculture and other arts. When Santa Anna served as acting governor of Veracruz in the late 1820s, he showed a fierce commitment to promoting education throughout the country; he continued to stress improving primary and secondary education as one of his government's priorities throughout his political career. In response to Santa Anna's desire to establish colleges of agriculture and the arts, this brief pamphlet was created and published by Minister of Justice and Education, Manuel Baranda, outlining basic courses of study for each, and related costs. Minor stain, else very good.
