Hutton", 1p., 4to., Palm Beach, FL, March 13, 1950, to Martha Rountree, journalist with Meet the Press, explaining that an error by his secretary resulted in a statement (included) not being sent earlier. The statement which was made to the Palm Beach Daily News consists of six typed pages. In part: "...The following is an effort on my part to check trends toward State Socialism. I do believe that in America and Great Britain business, as such, has a responsibility in social and moral questions. The facts should be explained, in no uncertain language, to those who work with their hands, and have them feel that they are a part of the system, and not apart from it...we must view with alarm how successfully the politicians in both our countries have built up class legislation and class distinction, dividing our peoples. This is the most dangerous road a man can travel...". Very good.

(1839 - 1937) American industrialist and philanthropist who organized Standard Oil and virtually monopolized the industry until he was forced by a Supreme Court ruling to disolve the company and break it up into regional producers and refiners.Exceedingly rare oversize S.P. 9" x 12 1/2", a distinguished half-length portrait taken later in life, signed "John D. Rockefeller May 7th 1923" in pencil on the bottom white margin. As usual, signature was accomplished with a light hand, with a thin vertical stain affecting but one letter in signature, also signed by the photographer. This is the first such oversize signed photo we've seen, most having been signed in presentation books. Slight wear, a couple of neglible wrinkles, else very good.

Scarce D.S., a handsomely engraved four-share stock certificate for the Standard Oil Trust, 1p., oblong legal folio, New York, June 16, 1887. The certificate, engraved in green, black and white, features a vignette of the U.S. Capitol building. Certificate also signed by HENRY M. FLAGLER. Flagler was associated with Rockefeller in the development of the Standard Oil Company and later organized the Florida East Coast Railway. Light creases, signatures crossed by an embossing, non-ink cancellation rather than hand cancellation, and as a result the signatures are quite clear. Very good.

(1901 - 1966) American artist, film producer and businessman, creator of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, producer of the first animated film with sound, builder of theme parks in Anaheim and Orlando. Exceptionally rare D.S. "Walter E. Disney", and signed "Walt Disney" two additional times, a check drawn on his account at the Bank of America, Burbank, Apr. 22, 1952 making a $300.00 withdrawal from "Walt Disney Special Account" (in Disney's hand), and endorsed on verso "For deposit - Walt Disney Special Acct.". Signature in payee line bears light embossing, signature on bottom is large and bold, signature on verso very good. Overall fine condition.

I was truly sick in my lower innards...I love you an awful lot, and I'll not be too late tonight...". Hughes continues: "...Dearest love, I understand and I'm sorry - I am going to watch #9 - 'The Gentle Sit of Murder'. Maybe you would like to see it...". With additional long-winded content on films and actors, mentioning Dana Andrews, Anne Baxter and Walter Brennan. Very good.
