AUGUST HEISSMEYER (1897 - 1979) Waffen-SS general, relieved Theodor Eicke who in 1939 had begun commanding a front line division. Heissmeyer was provisionally in charge of the inspection of concentration camps until relieved by Richard Glücks. Fine association A.L.S. on "Reichsfuhrer-SS" letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Apr. 27, 1940 to KARL FRANK (1898-1946), notorious SS-Obergruppenführer who was tried, convicted and executed for his role in organizing the massacres of the people of Lidice and Ležáky. Heissmeyer extends warm congratulations upon Frank's recent wedding. Light damp stains at bottom, file holes at left margin, else very good.
