ALEXANDER PATCH(1889 - 1945) American Army general who also commanded Marines in the invasion of Guadalcanal to relieve the 1st Marine Div., headed the invasion landings in southern France and link-up with Patton's Third Army. Died of pneumonia. War-date T.L.S. on his official 7th Army letterhead, 1p. 4to., Nov. 25, 1944 to a Jay Buckner. Patch responds to his correspondent’s request for a 7th Army insignia patch (not present), and signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good. Also present is the original transmittal envelope for this letter, 8 ½" x 4”, bearing Patch’s free-frank signature in black ink at lower left. Shows chips to the edges, not affecting the signature, else very good. Two pieces.
